Biogasmax, a driving partnership
Esterra, the company entrusted with the waste collection for the Lille Metropolitan Community Authorities is about to introduce seventy new bio-methane powered vehicles in addition to its natural gas truck fleet. The follow-up and evaluation will be conducted during the first year of this bio-fuel use within the framework of the Biogasmax project as did the city of Stockholm.
The European Biogasmax project is a partnership with the aim of exchanging biomethane-related demonstrations and sharing experiences in terms of best practices in managing urban transportation. A swedish partner, Stockholm was already involved in the experience of bio-methane as fuel for urban transportation when the project was launched in 2006. This partner had already developed questionnaires for evaluation to the drivers. On january 2008, the CVO (Organic waste Valorization Center) of LMCU (Lille Métropole Communauté Urbaine) will get out of its last testing stage and will be able to fill up with bio-methane for vehicule about a hundred of bus and four wastes collection trucks from Esterra compagny. The exhanges due to the biogasmax project allow LMCU to take advantage of the methodology that Stockholm implemented to evaluate this type of practices.
