Biofuel Cities, a European Partnership for a larger biofuel use
According the European Energy Policy, Biofuel Cities is a « Coordination Action » project aimed at building European Partnership to increase the biofuel use in the European Union. It offers an opportunity to work together, to engage in exchange and networking. It offers as well an independently access biofuel projects for local governments, industrial and commercial stakeholders and, then, it supports the biofuel stakeholders through informations and tools.
The European Commission made strong decisions to reduce greenhouse gases (largely caused by road transports) and to reduce our dependency on fossil fuels : the aim is to raise the biofuel use rate up to 10% at least in the European Union by 2020.
Biofuel Cities is an EC-funded project and take part for the achievement of this target. It consists first in building a large european partnership gathering the stakeholders of the complete chain, from feedstock to biofuel use, including production, distribution and strandardisation. This partnership is aimed at exchanging ideas, evaluating projects related to research or local policy demonstration and Biofuel Cities support as well the biofuel stakeholders.
All actors who protect the climate and environment for their public authority or company, all companies and organisations involved in the biofuel chain through business, research or standardisation and all associations, non governmental organisations and the media concerned about alternative fuels are invited to join Biofuel Cities (it’s free !)
European Partnership participants have full access to all Biofuel Cities services : informations, online facilities on the web site www.biofuel-cities.eu, study tours, publications and tools for monitoring and standardisation of biofuels.
