Future biomethane scenario for Stockholm
Biomethane from local feedstock could account for 5% of the total fuel market in the metropolitan area in Stockholm. Sewage, urban waste and agricultural crops not needed for food production are taken into account in the estimations of the potential. 11 large and 15 small biogas plants would produce a total of 570 GWh.
The larger plants would be connected to a new gas grid for biomethane that is planned for Stockholm. This study has been carried out as a Master's thesis at the Royal Institute of Technology in co-operation with the City of Stockholm.
